North West police have opened an investigation after the body of a woman was found floating in a river.
The discovery was made by members of the public who alerted the police. Officers responded and recovered the woman’s body from the water. At this stage, her identity has not been released.
Police have confirmed that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Officers have appealed to anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
The area where the body was found remains part of the ongoing inquiry as detectives work to establish what happened and whether any foul play was involved.
