Swift Police Action in KZN Leads to Arrest of Five Linked to Amangwe Mass Shooting

In a swift response to the mass shooting at Nyezane in Amangwe on 27 October 2024, KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested five suspects believed to be involved in the attack, which left five people dead and one injured.

Acting on Crime Intelligence, a police operation tracked the suspects to a hideout in Acaciaville, Ladysmith.

Officers recovered two AK47 rifles with 115 rounds, two pistols with 12 rounds, a .38 revolver, and the vehicle used in the getaway.

One of the firearms belonged to a man killed during the mass shooting.

Another firearm was found at a separate location in Ezakheni.

The suspects, aged 23 to 46, face charges of illegal firearm possession and ammunition, murder, and are linked to multiple cases of stock theft and murder in the Amangwe area. They will appear in court this week as investigations continue.
