Two suspects wanted for the brutal murder of seven family members, including three children, in Hlokozi, Highflats on 11 September 2024, were shot and killed during a shootout with police on St Faiths Road, Highflats, on 8 October 2024.
Police, acting on intelligence, located the suspects’ vehicle and signaled for it to stop.
The suspects responded by firing at the officers, forcing the police to return fire in self-defense.
Both suspects, as well as a woman found in the vehicle, were fatally wounded.
Police recovered a rifle and a stolen police-issued pistol from the scene.
The search continues for a third suspect who escaped on foot.
