In a recent press conference, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) addressed the resignation of Floyd Shivambu from his position as Deputy President.
EFF leader Julius Malema described this period as a significant test for the organization, emphasizing that while Shivambu’s departure is notable, it marks the beginning of a new chapter for the party.

Despite this, Malema reassured supporters that the EFF is prepared for these challenges and that such departures should not lead to the party’s collapse.
He clarified that the EFF’s constitution does not permit members to resign and then return after joining other parties, but he extended an open invitation for Shivambu to rejoin if he chooses.
Malema expressed deep personal sentiment, likening Shivambu’s resignation to the pain he felt upon learning of his mother’s passing.
Shivambu’s resignation was officially communicated through a letter, which he publicly shared during the press conference.
