Three people have died after a double-storey building collapsed in Doornkop, Johannesburg.
The collapse happened on 28 December 2025. Emergency services, including police and rescue teams, were called to the scene shortly after the incident. Rescue workers searched the rubble for survivors and recovered the bodies of three victims.
Officials are still assessing the cause of the collapse and have urged residents in the area to stay away from the site while investigations continue.
The building was located in a busy residential area, and neighbours were shaken by the sudden collapse.
Police and structural engineers are working together to determine what led to the failure of the building.
Local authorities have also warned that any unstable structures nearby could pose a risk and are conducting safety checks.
