Bafana Bafana are finally set to depart for Mexico after a visa crisis disrupted the team’s World Cup travel plans.
The national team was originally scheduled to leave for North America on Sunday, but visa issues affecting players and members of the travelling delegation delayed the trip.
The situation sparked concern across the country, with SAFA forced to hold an emergency meeting as officials worked to resolve the travel setback.
SAFA later confirmed that all players had received their visas, clearing the squad to travel to Mexico and continue preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie publicly criticised the situation, describing the visa delays as embarrassing and unfair to the players and technical staff.
Bafana are expected to begin their World Cup campaign against hosts Mexico on 11 June.
