“Amapiano it’s in good hands. I’m going back to my roots where it all started. AFRO!!!!!!”
His post suggests that while amapiano remains strong, he is shifting his focus back to Afro-inspired music, which he says is where his journey began.
Maphorisa has been one of the key figures behind the rise of amapiano, producing hit songs and helping take the sound to international stages.

His statement reassured fans that the genre will continue to grow, even as he explores a different musical path.
The post received mixed reactions. Some fans welcomed the move and praised him for returning to his roots, while others said they still hope to hear amapiano collaborations from him in the future.
So far, DJ Maphorisa has not said he is quitting amapiano completely, but rather that he is focusing more on Afro sounds at this stage of his career.
