Tyla Becomes Most Awarded African Female Artist of 2025

South African music star Tyla has reached another major milestone, officially becoming the most awarded African female artist of 2025.
The global hitmaker has already won 12 awards this year, placing her at the top among African female artists in both local and international recognition.
Her 2025 wins come from some of the world’s biggest platforms, showing her continued success beyond Africa.
Among the awards Tyla has received this year are honours from the American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards and the Billboard Women in Music Awards.
She has also taken home trophies from the Kids’ Choice Awards, Glamour Women of the Year Awards, African Entertainment Award USA, Trace Awards, NXT Honors, Entertainment Arts Excellence Awards and two Africa Arts Entertainment Awards.
This achievement follows an exceptional 2024, when Tyla became the most awarded African artist overall after winning 28 awards in a single year.
Her 2024 accolades included a Grammy Award, BET Awards, Billboard Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards and an MTV VMA, alongside several African and South African honours.
Beyond music, Tyla was also recognised for her influence on fashion, youth culture and global creativity, strengthening her position as one of Africa’s most powerful cultural exports.
Her international rise began in 2023 after winning an African Entertainment Award USA, a moment many fans see as the start of her global breakthrough.
