SIU Freezes Pretoria Property Linked to Presley Chweneyagae in NLC Case

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has secured a preservation order to freeze a property in Pretoria linked to late actor Presley Chweneyagae.
The order was granted by the Special Tribunal last week and prevents the sale, transfer, lease or disposal of the property while civil proceedings continue.
According to the SIU, the home was allegedly bought using nearly R890,000 that was diverted from a R15 million grant issued by the National Lotteries Commission. The funding was meant to support youth arts development programmes.
The SIU alleges the money was misused and unlawfully redirected for personal benefit.
Chweneyagae’s widow, Charlaine Chweneyagae, along with several other individuals, has been cited as respondents in the ongoing National Lotteries Commission corruption case.
The matter forms part of broader investigations into the misuse of public funds intended for arts and community development.
