South African radio broadcaster Thabiso Sikwane tragically passed away on the morning of her belated 50th birthday celebration on August 31.
Sikwane, known for her work on stations like SAFM, PowerFM, and Kaya FM, had scheduled the celebration after turning 50 on July 3.
She suddenly fell ill on August 28 and passed away in the early hours of Saturday, leaving behind three children.
Sikwane was the ex-wife of DJ Fresh.

Her former co-hosts, David O’Sullivan and Jason Goliath, expressed their shock and sorrow at her untimely passing, recalling their deep bond formed during their time on Kaya FM’s Breakfast Show.
Jessica Mbangeni Dies
In another tragic event, popular praise singer, poet, and activist Jessica Mbangeni also passed away on Saturday at the age of 47 after a short illness.
Mbangeni was celebrated for her spiritual leadership and her performances at funerals and presidential inaugurations.
She won the Best Traditional Album award at the 2017 South African Music Awards and was recently nominated for Traditional Artist of the Year at the Basadi in Music Awards.
Mbangeni’s friend, singer Vusi Nova, expressed his grief, recalling their close relationship and shared experiences, including their collaboration on the song “As’phelelanga.”
