Manaka Ranaka To Host New Show Confronting Absent Fathers in South Africa (VIDEO)

Manaka Ranaka Hosts Raw New Series That Could Heal South Africa’s Broken Homes

Mzansi Wethu is turning up the heat this June with Eyamadoda, a powerful new reality show that dives straight into one of South Africa’s most painful issues of absent fathers.

Hosted by beloved actress Manaka Ranaka, the show brings biological dads and stepfathers face-to-face for honest, emotional conversations.

And with only 35.5% of South African children living with their biological fathers, according to the latest State of South African Fathers Report, this show couldn’t be more timely.

Manaka brings a deeply personal perspective to the series. A single mother of three, she knows the heartbreak of father absence all too well including the painful memory of an absent father showing up only after her daughter Katlego’s tragic passing.

“This show is personal,” she says. “I haven’t even started my own healing journey. There are still kids who need me to help them heal.”

But Eyamadoda isn’t about blame. It’s about healing. Ranaka makes it clear: “We’re not here to collect papgeld. We’re here to put the children first.”

Over 13 episodes, Eyamadoda explores what it means to be a father — emotionally, spiritually, and culturally. It celebrates the stepfathers who stepped up and calls for honest conversations, not shame.

Produced by Devandile Media, Eyamadoda premieres this June on Mzansi Wethu (DStv Channel 163). Expect raw truths, heartfelt healing, and stories that reflect the realities of fatherhood in South Africa.
