TikTok Star Fatally Shot During Livestream - South Africans Shocked by Graphic Attack

South Africa is reeling after the shocking on-camera death of rising TikTok star Sqiniseko Mvelase, who was gunned down during a livestream on 29 May 2025 while speaking to his fans.

Known for his bold opinions and fearless reviews of maskandi music, Mvelase had built a loyal following on TikTok with his no-holds-barred commentary.

But what started as another casual live session quickly turned into a horrifying scene.

The 28-year-old content creator, originally from KwaMaphumulo in KwaZulu-Natal, had recently relocated to Nigel in Ekurhuleni, where the fatal shooting took place.

During the livestream, viewers reportedly heard multiple gunshots believed to be more than 15 before the video abruptly cut out.

A chilling short clip circulating online captures the final moments, showing Mvelase attempting to run before the screen goes black.

Reactions online have been divided, with some fans mourning the TikTok creator’s death, while others reflected on the controversial nature of his content.

“I heard the guy was quite provocative. He would insult people and say what he wished to say to them. I guess it’s one of those he insulted, but condolences to his family, friends, and followers,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter).

Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 as the investigation continues.
