South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha has sparked controversy on Twitter after referring to Durban, her hometown, as a “small town” during a roundtable discussion with Americans.
A short video clip of the statement quickly went viral, drawing criticism from many South Africans who felt she misrepresented one of the country’s largest cities.
Twitter users expressed disappointment, accusing Nomzamo of downplaying Durban’s significance and missing an opportunity to highlight its rich culture.
