Woman Arrested in Connection With Murder of E-Hailing Driver in Pretoria West

A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of an e-hailing driver in Pretoria West following a viral video of the incident.

Police said the suspect was arrested after a disturbing dashcam video circulated showing the driver being attacked inside his vehicle on 11 February 2026. The footage shows a woman in the front passenger seat and a man in the back struggling with the driver before he loses consciousness and is later found dead. Police believe the attackers had requested an e-hailing trip before the violence began.

The victim’s hijacked vehicle and his body were found later that day in Atteridgeville.

Authorities said the woman faces charges including carjacking and murder when she appears in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court.

Police confirmed the investigation is ongoing and that additional arrests are expected as they work to identify all suspects involved.

Authorities have urged members of the public not to share the violent video further, saying it shows a brutal attack on the driver.

The case has drawn attention to ongoing concerns about the safety of e-hailing drivers, who in several incidents nationwide have been targeted during trips.
