Lynn Forbes Reflects on “Forbes Fun Fridays” with Late Son AKA

Lynn Forbes, mother of the late South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, has shared a heartfelt memory of special family moments with her son and granddaughter, Kairo Forbes.

In a social media post, Lynn looked back on a weekly tradition they called “Forbes Fun Fridays.” On those Fridays, Lynn said she, AKA and Kairo would spend unplanned, joyful time together when Kairo stayed with her father.

They would laugh, be silly and enjoy normal family life, even when they disagreed at times. The moments, she said, were “special times” that brought the family together.

Since AKA’s tragic passing in 2023, Lynn has been open about her journey with grief. She said some days she feels strong, some days broken, and most days a mix of both, but she continues to lean into routines that connect her with loved ones.

She also spoke about grief as something that never truly goes away and described learning to “grow around it.”

In related developments in the murder case, authorities have moved the seven men charged in connection with the murders of AKA and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane to a maximum security facility.

The matter has been postponed to 20 February 2026 for further legal proceedings.
