Shebeshxt Lawyers Deny Urgent Bail Reports as He Remains in Custody

Limpopo musician Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke remains in custody after his legal team denied reports that they had made an urgent application for bail.

Shebeshxt is facing multiple serious charges, including attempted murder, in connection with an incident in Polokwane on 19 October 2025 when he allegedly shot a fan.

The singer’s lawyers have clarified that no urgent bail application was made, and that the matter will proceed through the normal court process. The case has been postponed, and Chauke will remain in custody over the festive season.

A Polokwane Magistrate previously denied his bail application, saying the defence had not shown “exceptional circumstances” to justify his release.

The matter is expected to return to court in February 2026.

Social media reactions to the musician’s continued detention have been mixed. Some fans expressed disappointment, saying the festive season plans and performances have been disrupted, while others praised the court’s firm stance on alleged violent crime.
