Parts Of Johannesburg To Face Nine-Hour Power Outage On Friday

Eskom has confirmed a nine-hour power outage in Sandton, Johannesburg, due to scheduled maintenance on Friday, 11 October. The outage will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until 6:00 PM.

The power outage will impact areas such as Benmore and Sandown, as maintenance work is carried out on the distribution network.

Eskom stated that this interruption is essential to perform necessary maintenance on power lines. However, if unexpected challenges arise, the planned maintenance may be postponed.

Eskom has advised customers to treat all electrical appliances as live throughout the outage for safety purposes.

The utility apologized for any inconvenience caused and emphasized that the power cut may be rescheduled if conditions beyond its control occur.

In other news, Eskom is optimistic about delivering a load shedding-free summer if unplanned outages at power stations stay below 13,000 MW.
